Every session is grounded in kindness, science, and respect for the dog in front of us.

Ida & Boss: The Namesakes of IdaBoss Dog Training

Meet your Trainer
Jody
Founder & Head Trainer CPDT-KA
Hi, I’m Jody - a certified Family Dog Mediator with Advanced Certification in Canine Reactive Behaviours. I’m passionate about helping dogs and their humans build strong, lasting relationships through compassionate, science-based training.
My approach is grounded in seeing each dog as an individual, and I have a special interest in supporting reactive, anxious, and misunderstood dogs to thrive. I’m also deeply committed to assistance dog training, helping create skilled, reliable canine partners who can bring greater independence, confidence, and support to the people who need them most.
For me, dog training is about far more than teaching behaviours - it’s about improving lives, strengthening relationships, and creating harmony at both ends of the leash.

The heart behind IdaBoss Dog Training comes from two very special Rottweilers who changed the course of my life. Firstly, there was Boss. He was the dog who first inspired me to become a trainer. He came to me at five years old carrying deep fears and reactivity, and helping him find safety, confidence, and trust was a truly life-changing experience. He opened my eyes to the power of compassionate, evidence-based training and sparked the passion that led me into this work. And then there was Ida - my soul dog, my sidekick, and a huge part of the reason IdaBoss became what it is. Ida inspired me every day with her presence, her resilience, and the bond we shared. Following her passing, her name remains at the heart of this business not only as a tribute to the incredible dog she was, but also to honour the impact she had on my life, my journey, and the work I do with other dogs and their people. IdaBoss Dog Training carries both Ida's & Boss' legacies forward.

Outside of training, I’m a proud Mum and Grandma to two wonderful kids and four beautiful grandsons. Whether you’re navigating reactivity, looking for support with an assistance dog, or simply wanting to build a better relationship with your dog, I’m here to help - without judgement, with empathy, and always guided by science.
